Goa FDA orders recalling HUL's Knorr noodles

Panaji, June 12 (IANS): After banning Nestle's Maggi noodles, the Goa Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) on Friday asked Hindustan Unilever Limited to recall its Knorr range of noodles, a government statement said.

"Today, FDA Goa directed the Hindustan Unilever Ltd. company to recall their Knorr range of noodle products which FSSAI had directed them to recall since they had not obtained prior product approval about its safety," it added.

The FDA has now asked all local stockists and distributers of HUL to recall the entire Knorr Chinese noodles product range. Over 1,200 kgs of products recalled from HUL had been recalled till evening.

The statement said the order for recalling products had been issued only after the realisation that there was no Food Safety and Standards Authority of India
(FSSAI) approval.

"So far there are no quality issues in these products," the statement added.
