Panaji, Apr 23: Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) on Monday said that they would go alone in the ensuing Goa state legislative assembly poll.
"We will fight minimum 32 constituencies... The figure can be more but not less. The party expect majority seats so that it can rule the state without any hiccups," leader of opposition Manohar Parrikar, who has been portrayed as chief ministerial candidate, told reporters at the BJP state headquarters.
Goa is going for polls on June two.
Parrikar, who had bitter experience with alliance partners like Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party, who dumped him halfway to join hands with Congress and formed government, said that it would become difficult for the party to implement its manifesto, if they depended on the allies.
"We are looking ahead for a proper mandate," Parrikar said.
The BJP which is the second largest party in Goa legislative assembly with its 14 legislators needs to win over 20 seats this time to grab the power.
"The final list of candidates would be declared only after April 30 when the state election committee meets," Parrikar said.
The party has decided to launch its election campaign in the presence of its president Rajnath Singh or senior leader
Lal Kishen Advani.
