Gold worth Rs.2.15 crore seized at Goa airport


Panaji, June 11 (IANS): Customs officials at Dabolim international airport in Goa seized gold worth Rs.2.15 crore on Thursday.

The seizure was made from a Karnataka resident, Sajid Ahmed, who had arrived on a Dubai-Goa flight on Thursday morning.

A customs spokesperson said that the passenger, from whom the 7.7 kilograms of gold was seized, is a resident of Bhatkal village in Karnataka.

"After initial questioning, the accused had revealed that the gold was handed over to him in Dubai by one Salim for smuggling into Goa for a price," the spokesperson said.
