Kingston (Jamaica), June 10 (IANS): Indian automotive firm Hero MotoCorp will be the title sponsors of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) for its third season, to be held in the West Indies from June 20 to July 26.
Hero has for long had associations with various sports, including cricket, golf, football and hockey. They have been associated with cricket for over two decades in various capacities. In the 2007 World Cup held in the West Indies, Hero was a Global Partner while in 2014 CPL, the firm sponsored St. Lucia Zouks and defending champions Barbados Tridents, a press statement said.
“It is our pleasure to have the world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer Hero MotoCorp as title sponsor of CPL. We look forward to Hero’s support and to making Season 3 of the CPL the biggest yet," said CPL chairman Richard Bevan.
Hero MotoCorp chairman Pawan Munjal said: “Hero MotoCorp has been associated with sports, and particularly cricket, for well over two decades. Cricket has for long remained the most popular sport in India and also in the Caribbean. Our title sponsorship of the CPL is a logical extension of our long-term association with the game."
