Margao, June 8 (NT): Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar, on Saturday, said that students, who have taken primary education in mother tongue, have come out with flying colours, and this proves that the state is moving in proper direction in the education field. Parsekar was speaking at the concluding programme of a round-table conference held at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao.
He said that “once it was thought that primary education in English would help a student to excel in higher studies, but today it’s not the case. Students taught in mother tongue fare much better than the other students.”
He said that the state has followed guidelines of the NCERT, but the SCERT has not been formed in Goa. “Now, having district-level DEd, it would be easier for the government to form SCERT,” he added.
