Bengaluru, Jun 2: John Michael D'Cunha has been appointed registrar general of Karnataka high court. This appointment was made on Monday June 1.
D'Cunha, judge of the special court here, had found Tamil Nadu chief minister, Jayalalithaa, guilty of amassing assets disproportionate to known sources of income in the 18-year-old case, and sentenced her among others, to four years imprisonment besides levying heavy fine.
Justice B A Patil, who was functioning as registrar general so far, has been transferred as registrar general of vigilance.
D'Cunha, who was born in Gurpur, had studied at SDM Law College in Mangaluru. He started practicing law at Mangaluru in 1985 with some fellow advocates. In 1999 he stopped law practice and joined judicial services.
