Jun 2, (Emirates 247): Saudi court sentenced a local man in his 50s to six years in prison and ordered him lashed 500 times after he was found guilty of having an affair with a 20-year-old girl and blackmailing her, a newspaper reported on Tuesday.

Police arrested the man and his son as they tried to pick up the girl, who had agreed to trap the man with police help, ‘Al Watan’ said.

The court found the man guilty of having an affair and blackmailing the girl by threatening to send photographs of her naked body to her brother unless she agrees to continue their relationship and give him money.

The son told court the girl wanted to stop the relationship after he told her that the affair caused problems between his parents.

“The court also found the son guilty of covering up the relationship…it sentenced him to two months in prison and ordered him lashed 10 times,” the paper said in a report from the Western Red Sea port of Jeddah.

Girl held for blackmailing ex-boyfriend

Saudi Arabia’s feared religious police arrested a local girl on charges of trying to blackmail her ex-boyfriend for planning to marry another girl.

Members of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice arrested the woman after she was reported by her ex-lover, ‘Makka’ daily said.

It quoted a police source as saying the girl threatened her ex-boyfriend to send pictures of him and herself to his would-be wife.

“The police charged the girl of trying to blackmail that man by threatening to send those pictures so he will not marry the other girl,” it said.
