The survey further revealed that 77 per cent of the LPG connections are in the household with 17 per cent covered by commercial establishments and six per cent by Industrial sector.
On the subsidy against LPG cylinders, the central government’s “Give it up” movement was simultaneously launched by the chief minister. Under the initiative, the people have been asked to voluntarily give up their subsidy amount so that this can be utilized for giving LPG connection to people in rural areas.
Goa has 91 per cent households under the direct benefit transfer of LPG as against the national average at 85.16 per cent.
Parsekar filled the “Give it up” form along with Civil Supplies Minister Dayanand Mandrekar. Addressing the gathering in the presence of Civil Supplies Director Vikas Gaunekar and the representatives of the LPG agencies, Parsekar requested all the legislators to surrender their subsidy for the sake of the needy.
