Cairo, May 29 (IANS): Confederation of African Football (CAF) says it opposes a delay of the FIFA Congress and presidential elections scheduled for Friday and reiterated its support for incumbent Sepp Blatter's candidacy.
CAF expressed its commitment to cooperate in "safeguarding the ethical and moral values that underlie the practice of the sport, its organisation and administration", reports Efe.
It insisted that it supports the measures promoted by FIFA in recent years to improve the management of the organisation and conveyed its readiness to cooperate with institutions on a zero-tolerance policy for all offenders.
Seven FIFA senior officials, including two former vice-presidents, were arrested on Wednesday in Zurich at the request of the United States judiciary over several counts of corruption.
