Mumbai, May 28: Richa Chadda's Masaan, is all set to be released across theatres nationally on the 24th of July, after bagging two awards, heaps of praises and two awards to boot. It came home with the Promising Future Prize and the International Federation of Film Critics (Fipresci) Award.
The cast and crew of the movie were deluged in praises and got a standing ovation to boot. The open appreciation for their work, had the actress and the director Ghaywan wiping a joyous tear or two. Ghaywan reportedly told media personnel that, "I wish I could say, 'This is a dream come true'. I never dreamt of this day. This is magical. My first film, produced by the people who inspire me, is a great feeling and now winning these awards, is a feeling one cannot articulate. I am happier for India and my team than myself."
Narrating the stroy of four individuals and their respective journeys through the movie, director Ghaywan felt that the awards received by his film were long overdue with respect to Indian cinema. He said, "For so many years, indie supporters as Anurag Kashyap, Vikramaditya Motwane, Guneet Monga, and now Manish Mundra, have worked immensely towards giving a platform to Indian Indies with the limited resources they had, against the conventional Bollywood structure. This win is an acknowledgement of their stupendous effort for so many years."
The film's cast include Vicky Kaushal and Shweta Tripathi alongside Richa Chadha and Sanjay Mishra.
