Madrid, May 25 (IANS): Real Betis have confirmed their return to the BBVA Primera Liga with a 3-0 win over Alcorcon.
The win on Sunday night confirms that the side coached by Pepe Mel returns to the Spanish top-flight just one season after they were relegated after finishing bottom of the table, reports Xinhua.
The side from Seville cruised to a win in front of a packed house in the Benito Villamarin stadium as they were quickly in control thanks to two goals from top-scorer Ruben Castro, who has so far netted 32 goals this season, while Jorge Molina scored the other goal.
The win means that Betis have amassed 84 points with two games left to play, six points more than second placed Girona with 78 and third-placed Sporting Gijon with 76.
These two sides look destined to battle it out for the final direct promotion spot, while other teams such as Las Palmas, Zaragoza and Valladolid also have a chance of winning promotion through the play-offs.
