Bengaluru, May 22 (IANS): Top seed Adil Kalyanpur and unseeded Nikit M. Reddy of Andhra entered the boys singles final of the SAT Open National Series Under-16 junior tennis tournament with straight-set victories here on Friday.
Adil, who is ranked No.8 in the AITA U-16 list, blasted his way past third seed S.M. Aadithya of Tamil Nadu in a lop-sided semi-final 6-2, 6-1 while Reddy, a trainee of SAT, too, had an easy time against state-mate Srivatsa Ratkonda and won at 6-2, 6-2.
Adil, who is gunning for his second successive title in the National Series in as many weeks, dominated the encounter from start to finish with an attacking display. In the first set, Adil broke Aadithya in the third and seventh games to take it 6-2 and then won six games on the trot after his rival had held serve in the first to clinch the second set 6-1.
In girls singles, top seed Shivani Manjanna of Karnataka duly made the final with an emphatic 6-3, 6-0 victory over teammate S.B. Apoorva and will take on Sharanya Gaware of Maharashtra who stopped Prarthana Prabahkar 6-2, 6-2 in the other semifinal.
