Barasat (West Bengal), May 20 (IANS): Mohun Bagan regained the top spot in the table as they pulled off a clinical performance to register a vital 2-0 win over third-placed Royal Wahingdoh in an I-League encounter at the Barasat District Sports Stadium here on Wednesday.
Bagan now have 35 points from 18 games, having won 10 and lost three, whereas Royal Wahingdoh have 30 points from 19 games, with eight wins and five loses.
Pritam Kotal and Sony Norde scored for Bagan in 36th minute and 63rd minute respectively.
At start of the match, both sides got couple of chances to go ahead but failed to make the best use of the advantages.
But the 36th minute of the game saw Bagan going 1-0 up as Kotal projected a cross from the right wing, which somehow found its way into the target.
Bagan supporters were ecstatic.
Both teams went into the break with score-line 1-0.
Coming into the second half, the visitors never looked to level the scoring, missing easy chances which otherwise could have fetched them the vital equaliser.
In the 63rd minute, the home side doubled the scoring as Norde's superb free-kick helped the ball hit the back of the net.
