Panaji, May 19 (NT): Governor of Goa, Mridula Sinha sought co-operation, support and contribution from the Captains of Industries to make Goa the first state in the country to be clean by the end of 2015. All cross sections of the society across the State needs to be reached out to put in their determined efforts in achieving the desired results to the Swachh Goa Swachh Bharat mission. Although it is a difficult task, nevertheless it not an impossible one, said Sinha.
Appreciating the response extended by the captains of the industry to the meeting on Swachh Bharat mission with the representatives of the industries at Raj Bhavan on Monday, Sinha stressed that development of the nation and the Swachh Abhiyan mission should go hand in hand to bring about the desired results. People should not only unite and work together to make the Swachh Abhiyan Mission successful but should enjoy every moment of the mission they participate in, said Sinha.
Sinha also urged the industrialists to provide and to ensure that the employees live in a clean environment and with clean potable water at their respective residences. Tree plantation programmes too needs to be organised once in a year to protect the nature and mother earth, said Sinha.
The Industrialists have extended their full support to the various suggestions put forth by the Governor and assured to focus on areas where there is scope for improvement to the existing in-house system not just within their units but outside their organisations too.
Secretary to Governor, Shilpa Shinde and Director of Industries, Trade and Commerce, Venacio Furtado were also present.
Shivanand Salgaocar, MD, Salgaocar Group of Companies, Dr Pramod Salgaoncar, Gino Pharmaceuticals and other representatives from the top Industrial houses of the state attended the meeting.
Earlier Dr S Radhakrishnan, Joint Secretary to Governor has given brief on the various activities being carried out to make the mission successful as the Governor has been nominated to be the Ambassador of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan said that concerted efforts and cohesive action can bring about the required outcome.
