Mangalore, Apr 3: Karnataka State Police Flag and Welfare Day, organised by the Dakshina Kannada Police, was celebrated in the city on Monday April 2.
The programme was presided over by IGP Western Range H N Satyanarayana Rao.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that though several reforms have been made for the welfare of policemen, several police stations and quarters are still not maintained well.
Additional director-general of police (retired) K S Suresh Babu called upon the policemen to respond to people’s problems and said that the behaviour of police with the common man reflects on the government.
Suresh Babu and Rao exchanged Police Flag Day stickers and also inaugurated the police welfare fund by extending their contributions.
A health check-up camp was also part of the celebrations. As many as 39 retired policemen were felicitated on the occasion.
Among those present were additional superintendent of police B S Lokesh Kumar, deputy superintendent of police Harsha and police officers.
