Margao, March 30: Opposition leader and erstwhile chief minister Manohar Parrikar on Friday said that if Bhartiya Janata Party came to power after the assembly election, they would provide jobs to job-seekers within two years, and if they failed in this promise, they would not come to seek votes in the area and would not remain in politics.
As a prelude to the elections, the BJP and other political parties have started convening street-corner meetings. BJP on Friday had arranged such a meeting at Khareband-Margao.
During this meeting Parrikar lambasted art and culture minister Digamber Kamat and minister Manohar Azgaonkar, both of whom had crossed over from the BJP to Congress and said during the two years of Congress regime they had not ensured any development.
Khareband area faces floods every rainy season and to avoid it this year he (Parrikar) told them some measures would be taken if BJP came in power.
He also said that BJP Candidate for Margao Constituency would be announced within eight days of time.
By-election loser Sharmad Raiturkar and BJP youth leader Rupesh Mahatme are in the race for party ticket for Margao constituency.
