Margao, Mar 30: South Goa zilla panchayat Members on Friday vented anger on Health Minister Dayanand Narvekar, who also holds the post of Vice President of BCCI, accusing him of being occupied only with cricket, thereby sidelining the health-related issues of Goa.
The ZP members at a monthly meeting on Friday, while discussing the issue of Hospicio hospital issue said that minister had failed to provide basic facilities to this hospital.
They alleged that there were no proper facilities to handle medical waste as there were no dust bins in the premises. Also the morgue was in dilapidated condition and the government was not taking steps to set it right.
As there is only one doctor in the postmortem department attached to this hospital, people face trouble, as the dead bodies has to be shunted to Goa Medical College at Bambolim, 28 Km from here. With this in mind, the members passed a resolution that the government deploy more doctors and provide basic facilities like dust bins and ambulances at this hospital.
They also alleged that Narvekar had not fulfilled his assurance given to the public over health-related issues.
