Mumbai, May 14 (IANS): Actor Anas Rashid, best known for his role as Sooraj Rathi in popular soap opera "Diya Aur Baati Hum", will be seen showing off his kabaddi skills in the upcoming sequence of the show. The 34-year-old says he has "fond memories" of the indigenous sport.
Anas has hired a personal trainer and is giving extra hours in gym to look his part in the Kabaddi sequence.
"I have fond memories of playing Kabaddi with my friends. My love for the sport made me follow the Kabaddi tournament last year and I’m glad that I can show off my skills on TV now," Anas said in a statement.
“My trainer overlooks my workout and has designed this nutritious diet for me which I have to follow to build up my stamina,” he added.
Also, Anas has cut down on his night outs to get his eight hours of sleep.
He said: “My friends have been calling me up every night, badgering me to go out with them but I really can’t. This Kabaddi match is one of the biggest tracks on the show and I want it to turn out right.”
“Diya Aur Baati Hum” is aired on Star Plus.

Rohit Nag's face swells up with slaps
Line producer Rohit Nag, who is currently seen shaking a leg with his wife and actress Aishwarya Sakhuja in dance-based reality show “Nach Baliye 7”, is said to have ended up with a swollen face after repeatedly slapping himself while practicing for a dance sequence.
According to a source from the set, the couple will be performing a passionate and sensuous act with a strong message, in the fifth week of the ongoing Star Plus show. At the end of the act, Rohit is supposed to slap himself thrice.
“Rather than acting, he actually slapped himself and unintentionally so hard that he has gotten a swelling on his face,” the source said in a statement.
However, the judges - actress Preity Zinta, author Chetan Bhagat and choreographer Marzi Pestonji, were surprised to see him on stage.
“They told him that he could have acted rather than actually hurting himself for the act,” the source added.
Rohit and Aishwarya tied the knot in December last year.

Mika Singh's 'energetic' avatar in 'The Voice India'
Bollywood singer Mika Singh, who will be seen as a coach in upcoming singing based reality show show “The Voice India”, is said to be anxious about his new stint.
According to a source from the set, the “Jumme ki raat” hitmaker is always seen jumping around the set in excitement while entertaining everyone around.
“Mika is everyone’s favourite and beloved on the set. He brings a smile on the audience's face. He is very lively and energetic and fills the place with more enthusiasm,” the source said in a statement.
“His impromptu singing and gigs and gags double the entertainment quotient for the audience and the contestants. He makes all the contestants feel very comfortable,” the source added.
Apart from Mika, the Indian version of the internationally acclaimed singing reality show "The Voice", the show will also see popular musicians like Himesh Reshammiya, Shaan and Sunidhi Chauhan playing the coaches.
The &TV show will be hosted by actor Karan Tacker.

Howard Rosemeyer to be seen in 'Akbar Birbal'
Actor Howard Rosemeyer, best known for his stand-up mimicry of Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan, will next be seen as an alien in historical comedy show “Akbar Birbal”.
In the upcoming special episode of the show, Howard will play “CheeyKay”, an alien who lands up in the Mughal darbar by mistake and makes Akbar (Kiku Sharda) realise the wrong doings in his kingdom.
“It’s been wonderful shooting for 'Akbar Birbal' and I'm really happy to have worked with stellar comedians like Kiku and other cast members. It was a unique experience shooting as an alien, Howard said in a statement.
The episode featuring will be aired on Saturday on BIG MAGIC.
