Mangalore, Mar 28: Up-and-coming artist Anil Devadiga has been hitting news headlines once again.  While so far he was in the limelight for his paintings, this time around he is hitting news headlines for all the wrong reasons.  He has been caught in marriage controversy.  His marriage with a girl of Himachal Pradesh origin in Mumbai, has landed him in trouble now.

Anil's Marriage in Mumbai

Kavita, a young woman from Mumbai came to Kadri police station on Tuesday March 27 and claimed that she was the wife of Anil Devadiga, an artiste of repute.  Immediately Anil was summoned to police station where he agreed that he had married to Kavita while he was in Mumbai some years ago.  But after living with her for two months, he had disappeared from Mumbai without informing anything about his whereabouts to Kavita. 

By the time Kavita came to know that she had been cheated, it was too late.  She did not have any details about Anil nor did she know that he was from Dakshina Kannada.  She filed a missing case in Andheri police station about Anil.  But it was of no avail.

On the other hand, after leaving Kavita, Anil came back to his native at Kana near Suratkal and started working in the city.  The artiste within him kept him busy with painting.  Recently he had organized a painting exhibition in the city, reports of which along with Anil's photos were published in the internet media too.  While surfing the net, Kavita came across this report and immediately informed her father about this.

Anil Devadiga worked in Saki Naka in Mumbai some years ago.  It was here that he fell in love with Kavita, a beautician by profession. Kavita is the daughter of Swaroop Singh Varma of Himachal Pradesh.  As per their wish, Anil had married Kavita in Mumbai in the presence of her parents and relatives.  After the marriage he lived with Kavita for two months.  But thereafter he left her and came to his native.

On Tuesday though Anil admitted that he had married Kavita, he refused to go to Mumbai along with Kavita.  But the latter did not listen and told the police that she would not step out from the police station without Anil.  Since there was no other way, the police summoned women police to the station and made arrangements for Kavita to stay.
