Mumbai, Mar 27: Renowned hotelier, owner of Mahesh Lunch Home and president of Janata Shikshana Sangha (Mother India) Sooru C Karkera was unanimously elected as the president of Mother India recently.

The other members elected were Bhaskar Kotian and Umesh Shetty as vice-presidents, Harish Maindan as chief secretary, Bhaskar M Shetty Attoor as assistant secretary, Mundara Hegde as treasurer and Chandrahas Bellada as assistant treasurer.

Sunder Moily, T V Poojary, Ashok Suvarna, G D Shetty, Karunakar Kaup, Gopala Poojary, Bhaskar Jattan, Jayaram Munnel and Ramesh Poojary were elected as members.

The association also chalked out various activities to be conducted during the course of the year.  Plans were also made to hold programmes in association with old students’ association of Mother India night school.

Honorary chief secretary Harish Maindan proposed the vote of thanks.
