Bollywood stands by Salman Khan, singer Abhijeet says roads are 'not poor people's property'

Daijiworld Media Network - Mumbai

Mumbai, May 6: The Bollywood fraternity on Wednesday May 6 came out in strong support of superstar Salman Khan, soon after he was convicted in the 2002 hit-and-run case which left one dead and four injured.

However, in their zeal to support Salman, singer Abhijeet and jewellery designer Farah Ali Khan went a bit too far and blamed the victims for the accident. Abhijeet invited the ire of the twitterati when he called the victims 'dog' and said if they wanted to sleep on the footpath, they should do so in their villages where no vehicles would kill them.

"Kutta rd pe soyega kutte ki maut marega, roads garib ke baap ki nahi hai (If a dog sleeps on the road, he'll die a dog's death. Roads are not poor people's property) I ws homles an year nvr slept on rd @BeingSalmanKhan @sonakshisinha (sic)," he tweeted.

Farah Khan Ali, who held the government responsible, in a series of tweets compared the incident to a person being hit by a moving train. "It's like penalising a train driver because someone decided to cross the tracks and got killed in the bargain," she tweeted. She also added that she was not against punishment, but felt that it was too harsh.

The educated class instead of shedding tears of Drunk salman must be actually sympathizing with the poor victims who were sleeping on foot path, This is a good judgement by the Honorable court which now is very clear that no one is above the rule of the land. Salman Khan must realise that hes a human being who must follow the rule of the land just like anyone else. May Justice prevail and this be a precedence Jai Hind
