Panaji, Mar 21: Goa state cabinet on Wednesday enhanced the retirement age of all government employees from 58 to 60 years.

"The decision to enhance the retirement age would be implemented from April one," Goa chief minister Pratapsingh Rane told reporters here.

Emerging from the state cabinet, Rane said that the government employees had demanded to have parity in the retirement age and the decision is taken as assurance given to them.

The Goa government employees association (GGEA) had resorted to strike last week pressing for their various demands including parity in the retirement age.

Rane said that most of the demands placed by the government employees are passed by the government.
