Speaking on the occasion S Y Gurushanth, editor of ‘Ikyaranga’ and CPI (M) leader demanded that all the cases filed against both Seetharam and Rohini must be withdrawn with immediate effect.  He blamed the administration for joining forces in suppressing that are trying to suppress the voice of the public and also tiring to curb the freedom of press.

"It is a shame that this kind of protest is being held in front of deputy commissioner’s office of Dakshina Kannada which is known to be the district of intelligent people.  It is a tragedy that we have to fight for human rights in a district where human being and humane values have been held at a high pedestal for long," he added.

Forum president Krishnappa Konchady, general secretary Yashwant Maroli, secretary Yadav Shetty, Narendra Nayak, P B D'Sa, Sunil Kumar Bajal, Ali Hasan, Bharati of Janavadi Mahila Sanghatane, Vidya Dinakar of NGO Task Force, Hanumant Kamat of Nagarik Hitarakshana Vedike etc were present at the protest meet.
