Udupi, Mar 20: Saligrama town panchayat president Bhojaraj Achar who had been held by Mangalore lokayukta officials for receiving bribe a few days has now been suspended by deputy commissioner.
Bhojaraj Achar, a resident of Karkala was arrested by lokayukta officials for receiving bribe on Thursday February 1. The lokayukta officials had conducted a sudden raid at the town panchayat office which in turn resulted in the arrest of Bhojaraj Achar. However, he was released later with investigation pending against him.
He was proved guilty in the subsequent investigation. Accordingly deputy commissioner V Ponnuraj has suspended him recently.
Manjunath Aksali, a first grade assistant in Brahmavar special tahsildar's office has been appointed in Bhojaraj Achar's post.
