Mangalore, Mar 20: Hyder alias Palti Hyder of Kudroli, prime accused in six-year-old murder case of Lokanath at Kudroli near here has now been remanded to judicial custody for two weeks.
Hyder who was arrested by Pandeshwar inspector Venkatesh Prasanna was produced before the Magistrate on Monday March 19. The Magistrate remanded him to 2 weeks' judicial custody. Two other accused in the case Majeed alias Machu and Dinesh Poojary are already behind the bars in Mysore in connection with some other case.
As reported earlier Lokanath, the owner of a finance firm near Kudroli was hacked to death by some unidentified men on December 7, 2001 evening. But in the subsequent days the police had failed in arresting the accused. Finally the case was closed a couple of years ago with "C" report.
But with the arrest of Hyder the case came to the fore once again. During interrogation Hyder spilt the beans and told that he along with four others had killed Lokanath and decamped with gold and cash from the firm. Police are now on a look out for two other accused in the case.
