Beltangady, Mar 20: Leena (36), wife of Alphonsus Pinto from Ujire ended her life after jumping into the well on Sunday March 18.

Leena had gone to church in the morning along with her son Ivan Pinto and had even attended a programme in the afternoon.  Her son too was with here throughout.  But after coming home she jumped into a nearby well.  Her son Ivan standing near her when she jumped into the well.

Though he shouted for help and even tried to rescue his mother he could not.  Even the neighbours who came to the place did not succeed in rescuing her.  By the time she was removed out from the well with the help of fire brigade personnel, she had breathed his last.

She was from Balehonnur and had settled near Anugraha Englsih Medium School in Ujire after marrying Alphonsus.  Her husband was a mason by profession.  She too was going for coolie work.  Their son Ivan is a student of standard 4.

The Beltangady police have registered a case in this regard.
