Mumbai, May 1 (PTI): Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, who has amplified his tirade against the Narendra Modi government over farmers’ issues, on Thursday braved the sweltering heat when he strode the distance of 20 km as part of his “kisan padyatra” in Amravati district to interact with the kin of farmers who have committed suicide due to agrarian crisis.
During his day-long “padyatra”, Mr Gandhi visited five villages and met family members of at least nine farmers who have killed themselves.
He began his “sanvad padyatra” from Gunji village on Thursday morning, and many people were seen lined up on roads at Kondhali and Talegaon villages to greet the Congress leader.
In total, he visited five villages between Gunji to Tonglabad, wherein he spoke to people who greeted him and sought to know their problems and the issues affecting them.
