Mangalore, Mar 18: State's food and civil supplies minister Govind Karjol has instructed the officials of his department to file police cases if cases of misuse of domesitc liquefied petroleum gas are detected.

He was speaking to the mediapersons, after holding a meeting with the deputy commissioner of the district.

He also said that until now the cylinders were being seized and cases were filed when cases of using LPG for running vehicles were detected, hereafter there would be a provision to seize the vehicle itself, he added.

Answering queries, Karjol further clarified that there was no rule that a domestic gas cylinder could be bought by a consumer only after a gap of 21 days. The mediapersons had drawn his attention to an unwritten rule which was being imposed by the gas dealers on the consumers. New supply must be made when the consumer's need arises. He also instructed the deputy commissioner to convene a meeting of gas dealers to make the point clear to them.
