Mangalore, Mar 17: Shiva, a prime accused in the March 9 Mariadas murder near New Mangalore Port here is said to have surrendered in a court in Tamil Nadu on Friday March 16.
As reported earlier Mariadas was murdered by two unidentified men as he was going to a canteen near New Mangalore Port on March 9 night. Though he was taken to hospital immediately, he breathed he last on the next morning.
Mariadas along with his son were the prime accused in the Paladorai murder that took place in the year 2000. However, they were acquitted in 2005 since the prosecution had failed to establish the case. Paladorai's family which was in the city till his death, had later transferred to Tamil Nadu.
His son Shiva is said to have sworn in front of the father's body that he would hack to death the accused. Shiva has several cases including that of murder and murder attempt against him Tamil Nadu.
The police had suspected Shiva's involvement in Mariadas' murder and had sent a team to Tamil Nadu. As soon as he came to know about this, he surrendered in a local court. Meanwhile police are yet to nab his accomplice Rajan who too was involved in the murder.
