Mangalore, Mar 15: The South Karnataka Salafi Movement (SKSM) will organise a massive convention of about 25,000 people from Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Chikamagalur, Shimoga and Kodagu Districts at Salafinagar, Deralakatte here on Saturday March 17 and Sunday March 18.
Speaking to press persons here on Wednesday March 14, SKSM secretary Ismail Shafi informed that the seminar has been organised in order to create awareness against terror activities taking place in the name of Islam and to remove misunderstandings about the religion and form
friendships with all communities.
The convention will be inaugurated by zilla panchayat president Sushma Janardhan. The chief guests will be state home minister M P Prakash, district in-charge minister B Nagraj Shetty, labour minister Iqbal Ansari, IGP Western Range H N Satyanarayana Rao, MLA N Yogish Bhat and Mangalore University vice-chanellor K M Kaveriapp.
About 5,000 women delegates are also expected to take part, he said.
