Karkala, Mar 15: A person was killed after being run over by a Tempo vehicle at Gundyadka near here on Tuesday March 13 evening.
The deceased has been identified as Basavaraju (32), a native of Bagalkot. He was working as loader in Shri Dugraparameshwari Crushers at Gundyadka for the last two years.
On Tuesday a Tempo vehicle had come to take the crusher and Basavaraju was loading boulders to the tempo. Meanwhile the tempo suddenly moved back in and ran over Basavaraju crushing him to death on the spot. The Tempo also hit a 12 feet long wall as a result of which the wall collapsed and fell on Basavaraju. As a a result of this Basavaraju sustained serious injuries and breathed his last even before he was removed out from the debris.
The Karkala town police have registered a complaint against the tempo driver Raghunath in this regard.
