Dortmund, April 20 (IANS): German club FSV Mainz boss Thomas Tuchel will replace Jurgen Klopp as coach of Borussia Dortmund at the end of this season, the Bundesliga club said in a statement on Sunday.
Klopp on Wednesday said he would quit Dortmund at the end of the season, saying he no longer felt he was the right man to take the team forward.
Tuchel, had taken charge of Mainz a year after Klopp had left the club for Dortmund in 2008. But the former has been out of work for a season having taken some time off.
A Dortmund statement read: "The eight-time German champions Borussia Dortmund have appointed Thomas Tuchel as their new coach from 1 July 2015. The 41-year-old will receive a three-year contract."
He remains under contract with Mainz until the end of June, from which moment he will become the new manager of Dortmund.
