Former Brazil coach Scolari on radar of Chinese clubs

Rio de Janeiro, April 19 (IANS): Brazil's 2002 football World Cup-winning manager Luiz Felipe Scolari could leave local club Gremio to coach in China.

Scolari has more than two years left on his Gremio contract but news emerged on Saturday that the Brazilian top-flight club could be willing to let the 66-year-old go, reports Xinhua.

The report followed a Twitter post from Brazilian journalist Joao Garcia, a close friend of Scolari, on Friday.

"The Chinese are chasing Felipao and have made multi-million dollar proposals," Garcia said on the social media platform.

"Win or lose the (Rio Grande do Sul) state championship, he will leave."

Scolari joined Gremio in August, just weeks after being sacked as Brazil coach following the team's disastrous 1-7 World Cup semi-final defeat to Germany.
