Frankfurt, April 18 (IANS): German football clubs Frankfurt and Monchengladbach settled for a point each following a goalless draw in the curtain raiser of the 29th round of Bundesliga.
Both sides staged a fast paced but evenly balanced encounter at the Waldstadion here on Friday. Frankfurt's Haris Seferovic had the chance to break the deadlock with just 29 seconds into the game but the Swiss international pulled wide from promising position, reports Xinhua.
As the match progressed, Monchengladbach took over but neither Patrick Herrmann nor Fabian Johnson converted their opportunities from close range.
'Foals' goalkeeper Yann Sommer denied Frankfurt the opener at the half hour mark when he tipped Nelson Valdez's header over the bar. However, both sides continued to work out opportunities, unable to open the scoring within the break.
After the restart the 'Eagles' gained momentum but unmarked Stefan Aigner wasted the best chance for the hosts when he shot wide of the near post from inside the box in the 70th minute.
In the dying minutes, Frankfurt goalkeeper Kevin Trapp defused an effort by substitute Thorgan Hazard from a dangerous position.
With the result, Frankfurt remain unbeaten for the ninth game in row on home soil while Monchengladbach remain undefeated in their ninth consecutive game. Frankfurt stay in eighth place with 36 points while Monchengladbach remain in third with 54.
