• Hospitals to have latest diagnostic equipment
• Public-private participation to be encouraged

Mangalore, Mar 8: The five taluks of Dakshina Kannada district will get 100-bed hospitals at a cost of Rs 2.2 crore each, according to district in-charge Minister B Nagaraj Shetty.

Addressing presspersons after a review meeting of the National Rural Health Mission here on Tuesday,  Shetty said the Government would start the construction of the hospital at Bantwal, as the planning for it was under way.

Similar hospitals would come up at Sullia, Belthangady, Mangalore and Puttur, he said, adding that efforts were on to build a hospital at Vittal. These hospitals would have latest diagnostic equipment to provide the best medical services to people.

Bantwal would get a multidisciplinary paediatric facility in addition to the hospital. To initiate public-private participation in core health services, the Infosys Foundation had been asked to involve in equipping the hospital, Shetty said.
