Udupi, Mar 5: A mega rally of self-help groups (SHGs) will be organised by Navodaya Grama Vikasa Charitable Trust at Adi-Udupi here on Wednesday March 7.
Addressing a press meet here Trust managing trustee M N Rajendra Kumar informed that chief minister H D Kumaraswamy will inaugurate the rally at 10.30 am.
On the occasion, the members of all the SHGs will be given special benefits like Chaitanya Bima and LIC policies, equipment to self-employment trainees to be distributed by third State Finance Commission chairman A G Kodgi, sports equipment to youth and women’s clubs which will be distributed by district in-charge minister Dr V S Acharya and equipment to the physically challenged.
Over 35,000 SHGs comprising of nearly 2,18,000 members will participate in the rally, Kumar informed.
