Geneva, April 9 (IANS): Tennis veteran Martina Hingis, the five-time Grand Slam women's singles winner, has rejoined Switzerland's Fed Cup team after an absence of 17 years to help the squad qualify for Rio Olympics.
The 34-year-old Hingis, now a doubles specialist, has been picked for Switzerland's World Group playoff at Poland on April 18-19.
Hingis last played Fed Cup when Switzerland lost in the 1998 final against Spain.
This season, Hingis won the Australian Open mixed doubles with Leander Paes, and women's doubles at Indian Wells and Miami with Sania Mirza.
