Mangalore, Mar 3: A young Russian tourist was killed when the motorcycle he was riding, collided with a bus at Kumbala near here today, police said.
The 30-year-old Roman Slyusarenko was on his way to Kasaragod from Mangalore, when the accident occurred, they said.
A private bus coming from opposite direction took a sudden right turn to enter the bus stand and the tourist, apparently unaware of the sudden diversion of the bus, lost control of his vehicle and hit the speeding bus at the busy Kumbala Junction in the national highway No. 17, police said.
Even though the locals and police rushed the seriously injured Russian national to Mangalore, he died on the way to hospital, they said.
Police has registered a case against the bus driver in connection with the mishap.
Meanwhile, the body of the tourist was taken to Pariyaram Medical College near Kannur for post-mortem.
