Mumbai, Mar 2: A second year Commerce student from Raheja College, Bandra, committed suicide at Thursday noon.
Amit Vaishal (23) hanged himself from the ceiling of his first-floor home in Dharavi. He was declared dead before he was brought to Sion hospital.
Amit’s exams were to start on Friday. However, it wasn’t examination pressure that forced him to take this drastic step. Close friends of Amit allege that he was disappointed after he broke off with his girlfriend.
Milind Mungekar, Amit’s neighbour and close friend in Dharavi, said, “He was a great guy. Everyone liked him. Amit was an average student. The only reason I can think of is his affair gone wrong.”
Officers at Shahunagar police station also believe Amit killed himself because of the love affair.
