Panaji, Feb 27: Archbishop Filipe Neri Ferrao has left early on Monday morning for the Mission of Daman, on a Pastoral Visit to that area.
The Mission includes Daman, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, territories which continue under the jurisdiction of the Archbishop of Goa. Besides meeting Priests, Sisters and different groups of Catholic faithful from various parishes, the Archbishop will give the Sacrament of Confirmation in Khanwel, Chisda, Shelti, Dudhni and Silvassa.
He will preach in English and Marathi (from a prepared translation of his English addresses) and will also use Portuguese in his meetings with the faithful.
A Pastoral Visit is the Shepherd's Visit to his Flock, the official visit of a Bishop to the parishes and institutions of his diocese. Archbishop Ferrao, who will return to Goa on the 2 nd March, has already carried out 103 such visits since he took over as the Archbishop of Goa and Daman, three years ago.
These visits usually take place over a weekend.
