Udupi, Feb 24: Illegally-erected hutments at four acres of land at Vasuki Nagar near Admar in the Yermal gram panchayat limits were evicted by the GP on Saturday February 24 morning.
Tahsildar Muralidhar led the operation. A total of 70 hutments were vacated despite protest by the residents.
Earthmoving equipment hired by gram panchayat demolished all the huts on the four acre land while the residents protested.
Gram panchayat president Sathish Salian, vice-president Noorjahan, secretary Mamatha Shetty and revenue inspector Satyanand Shetty were also present.
