Los Angeles, March 29 (IANS): Pop star Nick Jonas led the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards 2015 from the front as he wowed the crowd not only as a host, but also pulled double duty by kicking off the event with a medley performance of his hits “Chains” and “Jealous”.
The awards show, which took place at the Forum in Inglewood, California on Saturday, witnessed a variety of A-list celebrities including Taylor Swift, Heidi Klum, Chris Pratt, Jamie Foxx and Angelina Jolie, who was joined by two of her children, Shiloh and Zahara, reports hollywoodreporter.com.
Leaving behind Blake Shelton, Bruno Mars, Justin Timberlake, Pharrell Williams and Sam Smith, Jonas, who turned out to be the highlight of the event, took home the award for Favourite Male Singer.
Selena Gomez won the Favourite Female Singer honour after facing tough competition by Ariana Grande, Beyonce Knowles, Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift.
“Bang Bang” by Jessie J, Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj was given the award for Song of The Year.
Boyband One Direction was chosen as the Favourite Music Group after competing against Coldplay, Fall Out Boy, Imagine Dragons, Maroon 5 and OneRepublic.
Meanwhile, Fifth Harmony was declared as as the Favourite New Artist.
Amongst the film categories of the award show, Angelina Jolie, who won the Favourite Villain award for “Maleficient”, Ben Stiller and Emma Stone clinched the trophy for Favourite Movie Actor and Actress respectively.
Other big winners in the film category included “Big Hero 6” (Favourite Animated Movie), Jennifer Lawrence (Favourite Female Action Star), Liam Hemsworth (Favourite Male Action Star) and “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1” (Favourite Movie).
In the TV categories, “Dance Moms” and “The Voice” were awarded the Favourite Reality Show and Favourite Talent Competition Show respectively.
Others included “Austin & Ally” (Favourite Kids TV Show), “Modern Family” (Favourite Family TV Show), and Ross Lync and Laura Marano as the Favourite TV Actor and Actress.
Spongebob Squarepants was given the award for Favourite Cartoon, the Favourite Book award was bestowed to “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” series, and Minecraft won the award for Most Addicting Game.
