Mumbai FC wary of Salgaocar in I-League

Margao, March 27 (IANS): Mumbai FC will have their task cut out in their 10th round I-League match against Salgaocar SC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here on Saturday.

Mumbai are approaching the match after securing a creditable 1-1 draw against Pune FC where they played the majority of the match after going down to 10 men. It extended their unbeaten run to six consecutive games.

Mumbai are currently sixth in the standings with 12 points from nine matches while Salgaocar are just a rung below having pocketed 11 points from as many matches.

Mumbai FC coach Khalid Jamil is keen to continue maintaining the momentum.

"It was a tremendous, collective performance in the last match. I want the boys to produce another good show and get a positive result," said Jamil in a release on Friday.

"This is an away match and against Salgaocar which is a good, strong team. They also have the home advantage and it will be difficult to beat them," he said.

Mumbai FC will draw confidence from their first leg performance against Salgaocar when they won 3-0, but Jamil paid no importance to the win.

"That was a different game. Tomorrow will be a completely different situation and we have to be prepared."

The return of Brazilian striker Josimar Da Silva, who missed the previous game due to suspension, will be a big boost for Mumbai. Josimar, who has so far scored 5 goals, will spearhead the Mumbai FC attack along with veteran striker Abhishek Yadav.
