Puttur, Mar 27: In connection with the death of Poovakka (69) from Bollimbala near Panaje in the taluk, a case stands registered in the rural police station here against the doctors of the hospital where she had undergone angioplasty. The son of the woman, in his complaint, has blamed negligence on the part of doctors for the death of his mother.
Poovakka, who had been identified with heart ailment during a check up camp at Panaje had been subjected to surgical procedure at a hospital in Mangaluru. She was discharged from the hospital later, but within days, developed complications. She was admitted into a hospital in the town on March 24, but died the same day.
Jagannath Rai, son of Pooovakka, said that Poovakka, who attended medical check up camp on March 10 at Panaje, had been taken to their hospital by officials of a hospital in Mangaluru on March 11 without providing any information to her family. He said that angioplasty was performed on her without proper diagnostic procedures and without obtaining the nod of her family members. Poovakka, who was discharged later, became very ill on March 24 and died later in a hospital.
Thgrough the complaint, the complainant has sought legal action against erring doctors.
