Mangalore, Feb 20: When it comes to changing parties no one can former chief minister S Bangarappa. He has been a constant hopper and has succeeded keeping his party leaders in constant suspicion during every elections. But owing to a large band of his close followers who support him, he has also managed to garner votes in abundance. Whether joining another party or forming his own, Bangarappa has no competition whatsoever from any quarters.
But now there is someone else who is all set to perform all those political stunts and gimmicks which only Bangarappa dared to do. Former Ullal MLA K Jayram Shetty who had left BJP to join hands with JD (S) just before the last assembly elections, is now all set to come back BJP again.
He had joined JD (S) after it was quite sure to him that he would be denied ticket from the BJP for the elections. However, he was cornered in the new party thereafter. There were rumours that he may even join Samajvadi Party (led by none other than Bangarappa in the state). But he still remained with JD (S).
But when he was seen seated in the first row along with some top BJP leaders during the Virat Samajotsava in the last month, it was almost sure that he may come back to BJP fold. Now finally the time has come when this rumour will be put to rest by way of his joining to BJP.
Sources said that Jayram Shetty along with almost 300 of his supporters would join BJP officially at a function to be held at Gatti Samaja Bhavana at Kapikad near Ullal on Thursday February 22.
Though the obvious reason behind his joining back BJP is that he was never recognized in JD (S), no one can deny the fact that Ullal is getting ready for interim polls following the death of MLA U T Fareed. There is already news that Jayram Shetty who was once the MLA in Ullal will be BJP's candidate in Ullal since there is no one else who can fit in his shoes easily. Cashing on this, Jayram Shetty has decided to come back to BJP.
But some of the leaders of BJP have already said that they are not happy with Jayram's home-coming. Especially those who were eyeing a ticket from Ullal are now enraged with Jayram and also disappointed with High Command. But it is all confirmed that Jayram Shetty was in touch with some of the top BJP leaders for the last couple of months and finally felt that this is the opportune time to join back to BJP.
