Mangalore, Feb 20: The district unit of Union Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) staged a protest against the Central Bank of India in front of the Bank’s branch office in Hampankatta here on Monday February 19.
Alleging that the Bank has been denying their basic rights like leave, staff welfare measures and the right to form trade unions, the protesters threatened to launch an all-India strike from Thursday February 22 if the bank failed to meet their demands.
Recently, the bank management had filed a chargesheet against 7,000 employees for taking part in a protest against it on January 22.
The unions of other banks have also pledged their support to the employees of Central Bank.
Among those present was UFBU convener Leo Rodrigues.
