Kundapur, Feb 19: Defending champion Amsu Koteshwar regained prestigious "Chakravarthy Trophy" by defeating 'Fighters Bangalore' by 2 wickets on Sunday February 18 night.

'Chakravarthy Trophy' is the annual state-level flood-lit tennis ball cricket tournament organized by Chakravarthy Cricketers who are considered to one of the best cricket teams of the state.

The tournament was held at Gandhi Maidan here.  While 'Fighters Bangalore' had entered finals defeating 'Nash Bangalore', Amsu Koteshwar had defeated 'Coorg Cricketers.

The final between the two top teams was classic battle.  It went down to the wire.  But the defending champions managed to snatch a narrow two-wicket victory at the end.

Put into bat first, the Bangalore team piled up 64 runs in the stipulated 12 overs.  By all means it was a challenging total.  But Amsu Cricketers had other plans.  They batted sensibly to notch up 65 for 8 wickets in 11.5 overs.
 
  While the winners were awarded Rs 1 lac in cash with a trophy, the runners-up were handed over Rs 50,000 in cash and trophy.

Taslim (Amsu Koteshwar) was named Man of the Match. Raju (Fighters Banglore) was adjudged the Best Batsman of the tournament. Sadique (Amsu Koteshwar) was the best bowler while Imran of Amsu Koteshwar bagged the Man of the Series award.
