Mangalore, Feb 17: Jayashreekrishna Parisara Premi Samiti (JPPS) have demanded the union government and the railway ministry to start 'Garib Rath' train to Mumbai from the city.
The Samiti has submitted a letter in this regard to union railway minister Lalu Prasad Yadav through former railway minister and NDA convener George Fernandes. The Samiti is of the opinion that Garib Rath train would help the state to increase its commercial bonds with Mumbai and also Goa.
Samiti founder Thonse Jayakrishna Shetty has submitted the appeal to George Fernandes at Delhi and the latter has promised him to implement the project in the near future. The Samiti has also asked the ministry to start 'Jana Shatabdi Express' from Goa which was recently stopped.
This was jointly announced in a press release by Samiti president Vishwanath U Mada and general secretary Rons Bantwal here recently.
