Budget session of Goa Assembly begins

Panaji, March 23 (PTI): The Budget session of Goa Legislative Assembly began here today.

The state Budget will be presented on March 25 and the session will culminate on March 27.

BJP Legislator Laxmikant Parsekar for the first time sat in the chair of Leader of the House after becoming the Chief Minister following resignation of Manohar Parrikar from the post.

Newly-elected BJP MLA from Panaji, Siddharth Cuncolienkar made his maiden entry into the House.

Cuncolienkar was elected from the Panaji Assembly seat in the bypoll held last month which was necessitated after Manohar Parrikar resigned from the seat to take up an assignment at the Centre.

Goa Vikas Party (GVP) legislator Francisco Miccky Pacheco was seated among the ministers as he was inducted into the state Cabinet recently.

Among the opposition benches, former minister and Congress legislator Atanasio Monserratte was shifted to the back row as he was expelled for anti-party activities earlier this month.
