Puttur, Feb 13: One person was killed and two others were injured when a car hit pedestrians Daddalapalike near Periyashanthi here on Monday February 12.
The deceased has been identified as M J Jose (51), a resident of Muniyatil of Kalenja near Beltangady. Mathew (32) and Raju (45) have sustained serious injuries in the accident and have been admitted to hospital.
The three were standing by the roadside and talking to each other when a recklessly-driven Tata Sumo vehicle coming to Mangalore from Bangalore knocked the pedestrians down. It is said that owing to over-speed, the driver lost control over the vehicle which resulted in accident.
The Uppinangady police have arrested driver Umesh in this regard.
